A USAF C-17 Globemaster III Aircraft Landed at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base

A heavy transport aircraft belonging to the US Air Force (USAF) C-17 Globemaster III landed at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base (RSN) Pekanbaru, Riau, Saturday (6/10/2023).

The arrival of the aircraft carrying the ground and logistics crew was to support the USAF F-16 aircraft during the Indonesian Air Force-USAF Joint Exercise (Latma) entitled Cope West 2023, as broadcast by Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Information.

The flight with the call sign "Trek-41" was flown by Pilot In Command Ltc. Ream Joshua of South Korea's Osan Air Force Base (AFB).

After lowering the ground crew and logistics, the C-17 continued its flight to Kadena Air Base, Japan.

Latma Cope West 2024 between the Indonesian Air Force and USAF (USPACAF) begins on Monday (6/12/2023). The exercise involved the Air Force's second F-16 fighter.
The Indonesian Air Force uses F-16 aircraft from Air Squadron 3 and 14 Air Squadron Iswahjudi Air Force Base, and 16 Air Squadron Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base.

While the USAF uses six F-16 C/D Block 40 fighter aircraft belonging to the Pacific Air Force Main Command (PACAF) from the 35th Fighter Squadron, 8th Fighter Wing from Kunsan Air Force Base which is headquartered at Gunsan Airport, west coast of the South Korean peninsula.

Latma Cope West is a bilateral exercise between the Indonesian Air Force and the USAF represented by the USPACAF with the aim of increasing cooperation and professionalism of the Air Force personnel of the two countries who both operate F-16 fighter aircraft.

Cope West 2023 was recorded as the 10th Cope West exercise with host Indonesia since it first started in Medan in 1989.

In addition, this exercise is an implementation of bilateral relations that have long existed between the two countries to jointly maintain stability region in Southeast Asia.
